How you choose to take bath can change how many kilometres she walks to fetch water!

22nd March 2021 was #WorldWaterDay and we're thinking about how everyone on the planet should have access to safe, clean drinking water. While 1 in 9 people around the world don't have access to clean water, in India it is at 1 in 10. That means our women are walking several kilometres to fetch water, they are spending hours standing in queues instead of pursuing their education, livelihood or just taking care of themselves and their families! Walking long distances affects their health and is also a safety concern for most women.
UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 calls to ensure universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene for all by 2030. Things you can do to help:
🗣️ Lend your voice to talk about the lack of safe drinking water in many communities. Read about Leela Bai's story of transformation from spending half a day to fetch water to becoming a water warrior. She now operates the motor of a borewell! https://www.wateraidindia.in/.../the-tale-of-a-water-warrior!
Use your social media platform for sensitising people to the issue by sharing this post.
🚰 Don't overuse water. Make sure to close a tap when washing dishes, take bucket baths or short showers, never use bathtubs!
₹ Give to organizations like Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (
GuideStar India
Platinum Certified NGO)
Your monthly donation of Rs500 over a year will ensure a tap connection & handwashing unit at a school!
