Wish you everything in abundance, and the joy in sharing it with everyone!

What an amazing Tuesday! A special day for so many communities across India to welcome their new year, an auspicious period or the beginning of Ramadan!

In these difficult times, such occasions are even more important to remind ourselves of our privileges and be even more generous with sharing our time, our skills, our belongings and our wealth.

Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu, Cheti Chand, Gudi Padwa, Jude Sheetal, Naba Barsha, Navreh, Pana Sankranti, Putuhandu, Ramadan Kareem, Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, Samvatsar Padvo, Ugadi, Vishu, and Yugadi.

Take a small action to help a young woman take charge of her life!

We dedicate the month of March to turning the spotlight on Women’s issues.

For millions of girls, it is a constant fear how long they will be allowed to go to school/ college.

For millions of young women, there is no opportunity to express when they would like to get married nor the option to choose their life partner.

For millions of women, it’s a struggle to make their own decision regarding their pregnancy.

For millions of women, it’s beyond their imagination to ask for what is rightfully theirs!

As you prepare to celebrate Women’s Day with flowers and presents for the women in your life, use your privilege to take a small action to support NGOs working to secure a better future for women.

Centre for Catalyzing Change, a GuideStar India Gold Certified NGO has been working for 30 years, focused on one single mission – to make the lives of girls and women in India better. By enabling an environment which provides an equal opportunity to them. By ensuring that they grow up as educated, informed, confident citizens of India; live dignified and healthy lives; and emerge as leaders at the frontline. Learn more about them and donate to support their mission 2025. Your money ensures girls and women can grow in safe spaces and move towards a world where people will be able to do anything they want, regardless of their gender.

Help rural women get smokeless cookstoves (chulhas) and do your bit for their health and for a cleaner environment!

Every week we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!

"Help me get a smokeless cookstove and let’s do our bit for a cleaner environment!"

This week, donate to help rural women get smokeless cookstoves (chulhas) and do your bit for their health and for a cleaner environment!

Tomorrow, 16th September, marks a very importantday - World Ozone Day. The protective layer around our planet that saves us from the harmful UV rays of the sun has depleted and left us all exposed to the dangers of climate change. There is increasing evidence that many household energy solutions that are “clean” for health are also clean and beneficial for the environment. Clean-burning stoves can also reduce emissions of methane and carbon monoxide. This Tuesday, by donating to CHINAR, you can do your bit to help save the planet and improve the lives of tribal women too.

CHINAR, a GuideStar India Transparency Key certified NGO, works in remote villages of the Himalayan region. Women here still use wood-fired chullahs to cook food. This results in harmful smoke released in this otherwise pristine mountainous region and also poses serious health hazards for the women themselves. CHINAR wants to equip tribal women with smokeless cooking equipment and YOU have the power to make this possible. So, this Tuesday, and on World Ozone Day save the planet and help these amazing women with your act of kindness!

Volunteer to teach English for one hour every week!

Every week we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!

With Teacher's Day in India being just 4 days away, have you have been remembering your wonderful teachers and wanting to express gratitude for the gift of education?

One of the best things you could do to "pay it forward", would be to join this amazing online community of 1500+ volunteers who connect with their "Sunflower" and "Butterfly" (yes, they love the experience so much that this is how many of them refer to their learners) once a week for an hour of chat over a simple phone call!

We all know, just being able to converse in English, significantly improves the prospects of getting a better paid job. It improves access to higher education too.

Volunteer to teach English for one hour every week from wherever you are, in India or overseas. The awesome volunteer coordinators (they are super volunteers) connect you with your learner and you identify mutually convenient time slots and get started with the well structured curriculum. Want to get started right away? Just visit https://www.letsteachenglish.org/

In case you wish to sign up learners (youth, elders, helpers, security staff, delivery persons at your home or office), go ahead with filling the sign up form for learners at the same website!

What will you be doing to celebrate your compassion on GivingTuesdayIndia? If you start doing a bit from now, you could make a BiG difference on Oct 6, 2020!

Write to us at partnerships@guidestarindia.org for ideas and details on virtual generosity acts and events!

Your story could be the reason for someone starting or furthering their giving journey!

Provide a nutritious meal to a hungry person!

#EveryTuesday, we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!

Have you been reading several stories of goodness these days? People cooking meals for strangers, volunteering to teach English or being a mentor to an adolescent, mobilising smart phones for school kids to attend virtual classes, doing fundraisers to help their local community with groceries? Wondering if you are late to make a start or what options you have to make a difference?

Everyday is a great day to give! In 9 Tuesdays from now, Indians will engage in acts of generosity as a part of the global GivingTuesday movement! India observes GivingTuesday during the #DaanUtsav week from Oct 2-8.

What will you be doing to celebrate your compassion on GivingTuesdayIndia? If you start doing a bit from now, you could make a BiG difference on Oct 6, 2020!
If you skip a meal every week or even a bite everyday, you could get healthier, and provide a nutritious meal to a hungry person! Did you know that just a small portion of your meal everyday for 9 weeks can feed 100 people!

Annamrita Foundation, a GuideStar India certified NGO is providing nutritious and hygienic meals to all the municipal wards, hospital staff, and daily wagers stranded all over India every day through their dedicated staff of cooks, helpers, supervisors, and drivers. As per the guidelines of WHO, proper food handling techniques are being implemented using masks, hand gloves, sanitisers as well as social distancing and personal hygiene. A nutritious meal by Annamrita costs only Rs21!

Make a contribution when you start your "share a bite/ skip a meal" or when you have done it for 9 weeks!

Write to us in email to partnerships@guidestarindia.org for ideas and details on virtual generosity acts and events!

National Population Day

#EveryTuesday, we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!

Care in the Time of Corona!

Lately, our homes have become our offices. Our colleagues, who were our main source of interaction and our pillars of support during stressful work situations, are now working remotely. For many, the initial excitement of working from home may now be wearing out. In fact, it can be daunting to realize that it is not so easy to maintain the same level of productivity and creativity, working away from vital support systems. Working remotely can present many challenges especially for those whose work involves face-to-face discussions every day in order to arrive at the right choices. Not being able to garner such support can become overwhelming and distressing for them.

So, after several weeks of working alone, battling to meet targets, number crunching, devising strategies in isolation, and keeping up a brave front, help some of the anxiety dissolve and angst diminish. One simple thing you can do is to pick up your phone and call up a colleague or two, and share your experiences of the new work set-up. Become an emotionally intelligent listener, express solidarity and ask about how they and their families are coping. And do not worry about the clock ticking away. It’s time for you to just talk and show that you care. Besides, an informal check-in with your team member can help identify priorities, keep potential obstacles at bay and help keep a healthy work-life balance.

National Doctor's Day - 1st Jul 2020

#EveryTuesday, we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!

This National Doctors' Day, we feel more grateful than ever for the selfless and heroic efforts of doctors who are working to save every life from COVID-19. Let's send our messages of appreciation and gratitude to doctors everywhere! Let's also do our bit to keep them safe by supporting campaigns for protective gear for doctors.

Let's also make it a day to applaud the services of doctors who have dedicated their lives to care for the needy. Some doctors have set up hospitals in remote areas, several have brought innovative approaches to community healthcare and protection, many doctors waive their fees or subsidise them, some doctors set up fundraisers, some set up daily/ weekly/ monthly slots to treat people in remote areas or public health facilities. Do send your best wishes to them and explore how you might help them!

ARMMAN, a GuideStar India Gold certified NGO, has started a pan-India free Virtual OPD (V-OPD) with the help of volunteer doctors. Pregnant women and mothers can call a toll-free number (1-800-212-1425) to reach obstetricians and pediatricians from Monday to Saturday. The V-OPD has 50+ volunteer obstetricians and gynecologists with 100 average daily inbound calls and a capacity to handle 250. Help them to reach women and children across the country who require medical guidance in these difficult times. Here's an immediate opportunity for you to support the work of doctors at ARMMAN:

The NGO space is full of stories of doctors who are everyday heroes. To learn more and to support the work of doctors in GuideStar India Platinum & Gold Certified NGOs,

Your used smartphone/ tablet can make a world of difference to a child's education!

#EveryTuesday, we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!

While several parents are debating the decision of schools to conduct online classes, the impact of increased screen-time on children’s health and whether schools should charge normal fees, several needy kids are eagerly waiting for their smartphone/ tablet and internet pack so that they can continue studies now and post COVID-19. Some are worried that they may have to drop out from school as they need to support parents who have lost jobs. The remote classes are their only hope to continue learning or make up for missed classes. Their teachers are doing fundraisers to equip their students with devices, in addition to working on lesson plans for a virtual classroom. They also worry about their students having to study in a small noisy room, which means headphones or ear-pods would be a must. They are also working to make offline content available. If you are planning to buy the next smartest phone and looking for great deals, remember a child will eagerly welcome your pre-loved smartphone/ tablet. Bundle it with an internet pack and a good set of headphones or ear-pods. And do remember to put a little card with a message! Don’t have a smartphone to give away? You could of course make a small donation to our trusted NGOs and they will take care of the rest. The need is urgent. The need is real.
