World Hunger Day

In the second wave of the pandemic, the biggest concern has been about healthcare and the need to rush Oxygen to people. On World Hunger Day, let us remind ourselves that a deeper crisis in India and the world over is that of hunger. As Anshu Gupta, Magsaysay Award winner and Founder, Goonj put it, "dal-chawal" is the much needed oxygen for millions of Indians who have been severely impacted over a year with loss of livelihoods.
Analyses by international institutions including the United Nations and the World Bank show just how devastating the pandemic has been on the global sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda, in particular those focused on ending hunger and poverty. The crisis has set development efforts back by years, if not decades. Far from "Zero Hunger", the number is now predicted to come close to one billion.
The good news is that you have the power to reduce hunger!
Donate to one or more of these credible GuideStar India Platinum/ Gold Certified NGOs. They will make sure that your contribution is used to feed the hungry.
You could also plan your own efforts to cook and distribute extra meals once a week or even every day!

How you choose to take bath can change how many kilometres she walks to fetch water!

22nd March 2021 was #WorldWaterDay and we're thinking about how everyone on the planet should have access to safe, clean drinking water. While 1 in 9 people around the world don't have access to clean water, in India it is at 1 in 10. That means our women are walking several kilometres to fetch water, they are spending hours standing in queues instead of pursuing their education, livelihood or just taking care of themselves and their families! Walking long distances affects their health and is also a safety concern for most women.
UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 calls to ensure universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene for all by 2030. Things you can do to help:
🗣️ Lend your voice to talk about the lack of safe drinking water in many communities. Read about Leela Bai's story of transformation from spending half a day to fetch water to becoming a water warrior. She now operates the motor of a borewell! https://www.wateraidindia.in/.../the-tale-of-a-water-warrior!
Use your social media platform for sensitising people to the issue by sharing this post.
🚰 Don't overuse water. Make sure to close a tap when washing dishes, take bucket baths or short showers, never use bathtubs!
₹ Give to organizations like Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (
GuideStar India
Platinum Certified NGO)
Your monthly donation of Rs500 over a year will ensure a tap connection & handwashing unit at a school!

Take a small action to help a young woman take charge of her life!

We dedicate the month of March to turning the spotlight on Women’s issues.

For millions of girls, it is a constant fear how long they will be allowed to go to school/ college.

For millions of young women, there is no opportunity to express when they would like to get married nor the option to choose their life partner.

For millions of women, it’s a struggle to make their own decision regarding their pregnancy.

For millions of women, it’s beyond their imagination to ask for what is rightfully theirs!

As you prepare to celebrate Women’s Day with flowers and presents for the women in your life, use your privilege to take a small action to support NGOs working to secure a better future for women.

Centre for Catalyzing Change, a GuideStar India Gold Certified NGO has been working for 30 years, focused on one single mission – to make the lives of girls and women in India better. By enabling an environment which provides an equal opportunity to them. By ensuring that they grow up as educated, informed, confident citizens of India; live dignified and healthy lives; and emerge as leaders at the frontline. Learn more about them and donate to support their mission 2025. Your money ensures girls and women can grow in safe spaces and move towards a world where people will be able to do anything they want, regardless of their gender.
