#EveryTuesday, we share an idea to show your kindness to the people or community around you! We believe your action will help spread generosity to make a better world!
Start or join a “friend-raiser”!
If you are reading this message, you have surely seen several emails and social media posts urging you to support a fundraiser for the COVID-19 affected, and more recently for the Amphan cyclone affected.
Many of these are from NGOs working on the frontlines, some from individuals like Shishir Joshi, Khusroo Poacha and Bipin Mohanty; some from professionals like Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, others from philanthropists like Archana & Amit Chandra, Luis Miranda, Venkat Krishnan and Amita Chauhan.
You would have read most messages, glanced at some pictures, felt moved by some and made a few contributions here and there. And, then you would have seen some campaigns like the “friendraisers” organised by Vineet Saraiwala engaging IIM Bangalore Alumni, Dimple Parmar with alumni of IIM Calcutta, the Zoom “Mundan” challenge by Soumya Banerjee. Of course there are several offline collection drives in cash and kind in WhatsApp groups and in so many apartment complexes.
Friend-raisers, as the name suggests, make an instant connection, with a common goal to fulfil by reaching out to friends and having some fun along the way by challenging each other, announcing a match for the number of likes or dance moves or whacky looks and smiles!
So, start a friend-raiser for a cause or community you feel strongly about or join one or more organised by your friends! Yes, write your message, add a pic, think of some fun element if you like, do a dare and make a difference together with friends!
